At six minutes past 7 on ; Saturday night, the results from the Happy Valley (Ohiro Road) booth had been received by telephone at the office of the returning officer for Wellington South—the first details to hand in that electorate and possibly the first result from any booth at all. Certainly.- the figures were not large, the total number .of votes being only 131, but the reception of the result only six minutes after the close of the poll brought an approving “smart work’’ from the returning officer.
