ELECTION CHART

This election results page will enable subscribers to “The Dominion” to record progress returns of today’s voting for the 76 European seatf in the House of Representatives. Party and other affiliations are indicated by the following ioi roc ro s dLs National Party: C.P., Christian Pacifist; C., Conservative; D.L., Democratic I Independent; 1.G., Independent Group (People’s Movement) ;_ LN., Independent Nationalist; Independent New Ordei; 1.Y., independent Youth; Lib., Liberal; N.Z.F.F.L.P New Zealand Fighting Forces League Political; P., Peace Candidate; R.D.M., Real Democracy Movement; S.L., Savage Labour, S.D., Social Democrat. The aggregate vote of candidates in each electorate at the last general election five years ago is shown along with the effective voting strength for today’s election as recorded m the mam and the supplementary rolls. The v otmg figui es at the 1938 election are also given, along with those for any subsequent by-elections. Sitting members who are seeking re-election are indicated by an asterisk. Tn two cases (Awarua and Mataura) the sitting National Party members have been re-elected unopposed. Three seats —Kaipara Pahiatua and Northern Maori—were vacant at the time of dissolution following the deaths of the Rt. Hon. J. G. Cnntpf Sir Alfred Ransom and Hon. P. K. Paikea, no by-elections having been held in view of the close proximitj of the Coates, S i A elections—Auckland West, Bay of Plenty, Christchurch South, Christchurch East, Hauraki, Tcumka wlipawa and Waitemata-have been held since last general election and though the Mid-Canterbury seat also became vZant as a result of the death on active service of Major A. N. Grigg no by-election was necessary as his widow (now Mrs. Polson) was returned unopposed.
