Yugoslav Army Shock Troops
FIGHTING IN STREETS

A Yugoslav communique states that Slovene'units nr c now lighting on a front Of .125 miles, from Goritza to Ljublj-na. along which in the last two days four German atacks have been repulse.i. Slovene and Montenegrin units disarmed eight Italian divisions. An Italian division, with its commanding generals, which has joined the Yugoslav Army of Liberation, is now fighting against the Germans. Algiers radio quoted a Yugoslav communique stating that Susak has fallen into the hands of tlie Partisan army after heavy fighting. Slovene shock troops have penetrated into Trieste, where, supported by the population, they are engaged in street
fighting against the German garrison, states a Yugoslav special communique. [A communique on the previous day said that German positions in Fiume were being shelled by Yugoslav artillery at Susak, the town across the border, tlie greater part of which was under Yugoslav occupation. Trieste and Finnic were formerly in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.]
