SOUTH ISLAND CLAIMS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, September 24. Proposals covering the development of hydro-electric power, secondary industries, afforestation, tourist traffic, transtasman air service with a' terminal atBluff and better railway facilities in Southland were approved at a conference of representatives of local bodies and other organizations, held today. 'The conference was called by the mayor, Mr. A. Wachner. the purpose being to consider remits for submission to the conference which is to he held in'Christchurch in the near future to discuss South Island claims and the drift of population to the North. Island.
