OBITUARY
Mr. W. IL Edwards
An old Wellington identity, Mr. Milliam Ilenty Edwards, builder and contractor, died in Auckland on Wednesday morning. Mr. Edwards, who was born in Tasmania, came to Wellington in .1863, and joined his father, Mr. K. IlEdwards, in business as a builder and contractor in ISI4, remaining in ellington till his retirement in 1330, when he changed hi; place of residence to Auekland. During his long residence in D ellington he w'atched the place grow from a township to a thriving modern city. He remembered quite well the days when it was a matter of some difficulty to walkround Windy Point (now better known as Stewart Dawson’s corner) during boisterous weather when the tide was in, and also had memories of the time when the waters lapped the shore now outlined by Bond Street. He was a member ot the Wellington Racing Club and the M ellington Trotting Club. He leaves a son and daughter, Mr. Harold Edwards, director of J. R. McKenzie, Ltd., and J. C. Williamson. Ltd., and Mrs. Charles Morris, both of Wellington.
