MEETING IN MOSCOW
English And Soviet Church Leaders LONDON, September 20. lu .Moscow the first oflicial meetings were held today between the Archbishop of York, Dr. C. F. Garbett, representing the Church of England, and the 1 atriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church. iomorrow, one of Russia’s greatest saint days, the archbishop will assist at a cathedral service in Moscow. Hie British Ambassador and members pt the British Embassy staff will attend The joint message from him and from the Archbishop of Canterbury, which he has handed to tIM Russian Patriarch, expressed deep sympathy with the gutterings of the Russian people in the past two years, and expresses admiration lor the Russian people and the Red Army. The archbishops look forward to the day whim, with the evil forces of Fascism overthrown, a I rue peace may be estujlished. They said that they looked forward to a visit to England at an early date from a delegation of the Russian Church.
