Yugoslav Offensive LONDON, September 20.
The Yugoslav Army of Liberation is attacking along 1 lie whole Montenegrin coast (southern Yugoslavia), says Reuter’s Zurich correspondent. Heavy fighting is going on near Split. The important railway from Vienna through Budapest, Belgrade and Sofia to Salonika has been cut at several places near Nish. This line is essential for supplying the Germans. . Serb patriots, after violent fighting against a German elite formation, captured the Kopaonic region, with the important towns of Brus and Krusevac. Partisans sank three German E-boats near Scutari. , , „ , A communique issued by the Yugoslav People’s Army of Liberation states:— “Yugoslav partisan forces have destroyed a bridge between Susak and Finnic. The railway from Ogulin to Susak has been destroyed at several points, and all traffic stopped. Heavy fighting continues for Ogulin. “The great battle for Split has now been waged for eight days. Large and strong fortifications have been erected for the protection- of this important coastal port. Two thousand Germans so far have been killed iu tin; fighting for Split. The Germans have brought up planes and guns, but have gained no ground. “In central Sofia County, near the town of Tesbic, two enemy battalions were annihilated.”
