Mr. Churchill Arrives From North America LONDON, September 19. _ Mr. Churchill returned to London this i evening, accompanied by Mrs. Churchill,. Miss Mary Churchill and members of his party. Mr. Churchill was absent from Britain for six weeks, his longest period abroad since the outbreak of war, and ,' tlie most notable one, as it marked the, capitulation of Italy, the first break in the Axis.
Mr. Churchill is expected to open a two-day debate on the war situation when the House of. Commons reassembles. An eye witness of the arrival said, that though the arrival had, as usual, been kept a profound secret, the crowd knew about it, as usual. Mr. Churchill, he said, was looking more robust and rosier than usual. His cigar was twice as long as usual. He raised and waved his hat as usual. But this time, when he proceeded to Downing Street, he took away, locked in his head, the secrets of the Quebec Conference.
