State Houses And Social Security
Sir, —I challenge the Hon. Robert Semple, or any other Labour candidates, to tint the following facts over the air before the elections: “A” and “B” decide to take a house each at the age of 25, “A” decides to take a Government rental house at 25/- a week, “B” decides to buy his own house. They both retire at the age of 65, and go on social security. "A.” who has paid £2600 iu rent, now finds he is granted £B4/10/- per annum (present rate), less £65 per annum rent, leaving him a balance of £l9/10/- per annum to live on. “B,” who has bought and cleared his house, has £B4/10/- to live on. Now, you Labour champions, speak up or stand convicted of your own stupidity. So as uot to give these gentlemen any excuse to say they take no notice of anonymous correspondents t I subscribe myself.—l am, etc., A. MANSFORD. Wellington, September 20.
