MR. SEMPLE AT WANGANUI

Dominion Special Service. \A r ANGANUI, September 19. ’The AVanganui East Town Hall was filled on Saturday night when the Dliuister of AVorks, Mr. Semple, gave an election address in support of Dlr. Cotterill. Labour candidate for AVanganui. Mr. Semple referred to the country's war effort, defence construction in New Zealand and the mechanization of the Public AA'orks Department. He described the National Party members as political cuckoos who wanted to get into somebody else’s nest. Their leader. Dlr. Holland, had said nothing constructive and their policy was based on that of the Labour Party. “Dlr. Holland says that a member of the National Party may vote as he likes, but can you tell me how you can run a Parliament with everybody doing as he likes,” Dlr. Semple said. “AA’hat an outfit that would be. You have got to have some discipline in Parliament, the same as in the Army.” A motion pledging support to Dlr. Cotferill on polling day was carried on the voices and without any dissentients.
