COAL STRIKE OFF

WASHINGTON. June 23 The president of the United Mine Workers’ Association, Mr. Lewis, lias. ordered ilio miners to return to the pits till October 31. provided the Government remains in control of the mines. He announced that the miners are going to work for the Government, and not for (he operators and added that the arrangement would automatically terminate if governmental control was vacated. Tiie men will work under the direction of the Controller of Hard Fuels, Mr. Ickes.
