CAIRO, June 22.
Lieutenant G. E. Beamish, formerly official war correspondent with the 2nd N.Z.E.F., lias been discharged at his own request to take up the post as war correspondent for the London Exchange Telegraph Agency. Lieut. Beamish, who left New Zealand as a machinegun officer, became a war correspondent a few months after he arrived iu Egypt. He is to be the Exchange Telegraph’s correspondent in the Middle East, both with the Army and the Navy. For 12 years Lieut. Beamish was a member of 'the staff of the Auckland “Star,” and, just before the war, was on the staff of the Christchurch “StarSun.” He covered the All Black tour of South Africa in 1928 and toured New Zealand with the 1937 Springboks. During the 1941 Libyan campaign, many of Lieut. Beamish’s dispatches from Sidi Rezegh were widely published, both in England and America, and were broadcast over tile 8.8. C.
