Lou Rosa's Effort. The Franklin Cup run at Te Rapa resulted in a magnificent and exciting finish between the top-weight, Lou Rosa, Gay Lally and Foxola (says the "Auckland Star ). Lou Rosa, an outstanding perl ormer during the past two years, had to run one ot his very best races to win, as he was fourteenth as the field entered the back stretch after travelling six furlongs. Alter that Ensor, saving every possible meh of ground, kept the son of Foxbridge to the rails, and when an opening presented itselt as the leaders swung into the home stretch, he drove Lou Rosa through. His task wa s by no means over as Farland, the pacemaker throughout, Foxola and Gay Lally were ahead of him, the lasi-mentioned pan galloping strongly as Farland weakened. Within a stone’s throw of the judge Lou Rosa, Foxola and Gay Lally were tn line, but the top-weight then proved his superiority bv drawing out half a length clear of Gay Lally as they flashed nast the post. Foxola was only a nose away.

Duncannon Easily. The former Hawora trainer, S. MeGreal, made an auspicious debut from his new training establishment at Pukekolie by winning the. Pukekolie Handicap with Duncannon. The Inflation gelding was a long way back at the home turn, but swamped the opposition to win going away by a length. After Lady Pay had made the initial running from Noble Eagle, Kentish took command and led across the top from Sure Pay, Sleepy Fox, Lady Pay Paymaster. Babrow and British Mint. Kentish appeared to be on the bit as he led into the straight a length and a half clear of Sleepy Fox, but once the final furlong was entered on Duncannon and Black thread flashed up to easily take the major places from Babrow. Sleepy Fox was fou Hb> then came Kentish and Golden Survey. Miss Jose fell at the turn for home. Mishap Accidental. _ An' iuquirv into the falling of Gunman, ridden by S. Brown, in <■’’» Handicap, the last race at the «aikato Racing Club’s summer meeting at 1e Rapa on February 20. was concluded before the judicial stewards on Saturday. Evidence was given by Brown, J.
