STRIKE SPREADS

Canadian Steel Workers OTTAWA, January 14. A strike of Canadian steel workers, which began on January 11 at Sydney, Nova Scotia, has spread to Trenton, Nova Scotia, and Sault Sle. Maria, Ontario. Today a total of 12,500 men are demanding an increase in their basic wages. In the U.S., the War Labour Board ordered 19,000 striking Pennsylvanian coal miners to return to their jobs immediately in the interests of national safety. Fifteen of the largest coal mines in the country have shut, causing a critical shortage of anthracite coal. Warning Disregarded. NEW YORK. January 1-1.
