They ran from lie mile post to the half In -111 3-o and Hie last mile in 1.10. Vaughan rode Lou Rosa and Dye was on Foxola. so they did not carry heavy weights, but. bar anything that’ Kindergarten might have done when lie was speeding along under light weights last October this is the best training- mile seen on the track since Nightmarch in 103.1 before he won the last contest, lor tiie Treutham Gold Cup. On that occasion, with Roy Reed up, the Night Raid horse recorded 1.39. both gallops being done oyer practically the same ground, the outside of the course proper with the trestles about half-way out on the track. Lou Rosa was shading his companion at the finish, and neither could have done much better, but they were both running w-ell at the end and Foxola, impressed by the wav she hung on to her rival. Incidentally the times were recorded over the exact distances.

Going Was Good. The outside of the course proper was used exclusively for the fast work, and the going was in excellent order after an inch of rain on Tuesday night, the turf just yielding slightly In places. There were a number of visitors working, but apart from the gallops by the Cup horses there was not much of great interest, the shorter distance horses merely doing routine exercise.

Thev kept together all the way, and at the finish Happy Ending was going better than Gladynev. while High Class was eased a bit to finish three-quarters of a length back. All carried lightweights. Royal * Lancer Well. Royal Lancer drew away from Rink and Stairway at the end of a work-out o\er seven which was not timed. This is the first fast work Royal Lancer has had since his race last Saturday in the Haslett Cup Trainer F. W. Arctic Dawn finished about a peek in front, but Indian Princess was ridden by her trainer, H. Gray, so she had much the worse of the weights aud her effort was Moderate and Straight Left ran a mile in 1.46 with nothing between them at the finish, but Straight Left curried a solid weight.

A Good Six. The shorter distance horses were not seriously galloped, two of hem Inylnclinfc Beau Vaals nnd Palora. The best effort over six was Royal Merit, a length iu front of Lowry Bay. and going Just as well in 1.16. Duncannon and Bright Gesture took 1.20 1-5 after n slow start.
