The Colonial Office has received a xeport from the Red Cross delegate in Hong Kong that he is visiting Stanley camp regularly and that conditions are satisfactory. The Stanley internment camp is being used by the Japanese for the accommodation of civilians. The Minister for Air informed the House of Commons that while he had no information as to the number of R.A.F. prisoners of war in Japan, efforts were being made to obtain such information from Japan through either the protecting Power or the International Red Cross. He said that the Japanese broadcasts of the names of prisoners taken at 'Singapore and elsewhere in the Far East were often misleading or inaccurate. Relatives were informed by the service authority concerned as soon as names were supplied.
