AWARD FOR BRAVERY
Courageous American Pilot (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright 1 (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, August 12. Sergeant Ralph Sa,m, a ful-blooded Indian and hero of a recent. Allied dive-bombing raid who continued to fire on attacking Zeros with his revolver after his right baud had been shot away, has been posthumously awarded the American Silver Star for bravery. The loss of his hand made it impossible for him to handle the ■bomber’s guns. Sergeant Sam received severe wounds and lost much blood. He died a few days later.
