Total 20,005 - With the broken.weather lecently and' with a> eerious shortage of labour in the country, it was surprising that such a large quantity of wool was available for this appraisement, states the report. The fleece portion of the clip, over' all, was well grown and sound, and light in ''condition, and consequently the bulk of the wools were a little stronger in quality than last' year, and this In most eases will account for any variation in the prices realized against last season.
The bulk of the bellies and pieces offered were stained and, in many cases, very heavy with mud, and ns a result the prices realized for these were lower than those paid last season.
As indicated by brokers before the start of the season, wools that had not l>een thoroughly skirted were valued on a lower basis than last year, and the absolute necessity of growers paying every attention to the get-up of their clips is again stressed. They can then be assured that, as a result, they’ will receive full compensation and will be amply rewarded for the extra work entailed. ■
