Churches And War
Sir, —I endorse “Soldier’s Daughter’s” excellent letter. Mr. Duff Cooper has tried to make us realize that if ’ Hitler smashes Britain we shall be blotted out of history. Presumably the Church exists because we believe in. good and evil. The Church lives to , seek out and overcome evil. The German people have plunged the -world into blood and tears. Can there be any Church which does not denounce this horror?. How then, can there be such a thing as pacifism? How can any Church give its protection and blessing to any mau or woman who refuses to fight Nazism and all it stands for? And if Hitler wins? Shall those of us who are still alive have anything to live for? —I am, etc.—ROGER B. GIBB. Lower Hutt, November 27.
