Cricket championship competitions will be continued in Wellington this afternoon, when the following senior matches will be decided :—

The Wellington Yacht and Motor-Boat Association will conduct races for the provincial X class boats for the Campbell Chip, and also trials for the Idle Along class, on Wellington harbour today and tomorrow. The courses will be substantially the same as in previous years, the two senior races starting and finishing off Point Jerningham. Cornwell Cup and Tauranga Cup trials wil be conducted m Evans Bay. New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association will conduct a graded scratch meeting at Hataitai Reserve this afternoon, starting at 2 o’clock. There will be events for seniors, juniors, and women, and the pick of local athletes will be seen in action. Golf. Miramar.—’The winter season will close this afternoon with a mixed fourball competition. The summer season will start tomorrow. Baseball. The Wellington Baseball Association will continue its championship competitions this afternoon, when the following matches in the International League will be decided: —Miramar A v. Ford, Kilbirnie Reserve, 3.30 p.m.; Hutt v. Jenkins Gym., Strand Park, 3.30 p.m.; B. Demons v. O.P.T.’s A, Polo No. 1, 3.30 p.m. Athletic Carnival at Lower Hutt. An. athletic carnival will be held on the Hutt Recreation Ground this afternoon. A street march from the new post office to the ground will start at 2.15, and the carnival wil be opened by the mayor of Lower Hutt. Mr. Andrews, at 2.30. A feature of the programme will be a display of marching and physical drill by 100 members of the Hutt Valley Interhouse Girls’"Association. Another attraction will be Te Ropu Maori Entertainers.
