NAZIS HURRY FOR COVER

Pilots of the Fighter Command carried out several lightning attacks on targets in occupied France today, states an Air Ministry bulletin. At one place in northern France thick smoke was seen pouring from three separate targets, attacked by fighters, as the .pilots turned and faced back to England. German troops were inaclnnegunned and sent hurrying for cover, while German aircraft which were dispersed round flying fields were also attacked. One pair of Spitfire pilots reported on their return that they saw two small French fishing-boats bravely flying the tricolour, though they were only a few miles away from the coast where Germans stood on guard. “The fishermen pointed to the flag and' waved to us,” said one of the pilots. An Air Ministry communique states that offensive patrols were flown over northern France today by our. fighters. Factories and other targets were attacked with gunfire from a low level. Two of our fighters are missing. Hudson aircraft of the Royal Netherlands Naval Air Service, operating with the Coastal Command, this afternoon attacked a large German supply ship on the south-west coast of Norway. Two bombs were seen to burst on the ship, which, was left listing heavily, with smoke pouring from it.
