Star Hold Two Races
Though the water was too rough for rowing iu outrigged boats, the Star Boating Club held two races on Saturday afternoon, one a whaleboat race and the other the final of the novice pairs, rowed in tub pairs. Results: — Whaleboat Race. First Heat—W. ‘Hawker (str.), E. G. Webb, R. Carroll, P. Bruce, B. Yates beat V. E. Donnelly (str.), S. 1. Kidd, G. Perry, E. Lang, E. Christie by half a length. Bye, L. D. Tapp (str.), T. Lowe, P. Lavin, P. Norris, T. Pownell. Final. —Tapp’s crew beat Hawker's crew by a length. Novice Pairs. Third Heat.—G. Perry (str.), T. Pownell (bow), W. Fraser (cox) beat G. Little (str.), J. Franklin (bow), C. Wright (cox) by half a length. Bye.—D. V. Henderson (str.), G. Corniek (bow). Semifinals. —R. Rockel (sir.), L. Wilford (bow), 11. Ball (cox), beat W. Hawker (str.), E. Christie (bow), C. Wright (eox) by three feet. D. V. Henderson (str.), G. Cornick (bow), W. Fraser (cox) beat G. Perry (str.), T. Pownell (bowl. C.' Wright (cox) by a length.
