Soldier Actors Return To Studios

DAVID NIVEN and- Second Lieutenant Richard Greene are at present making films at Denham. Neither has any wish to return to Hollywood till the war is won.

These two British soldiers, who were formerly Hollywood stars, are enjoying a temporary return to pic-ture-making, for which they were so well paid at one time, aud which they now regard as a pleasant spell from their ordinary routine. Niven is engaged on an important propaganda film, and is not permitted to say aiything about it at perseut. Greene is starring in "Unpublished Story.” Before this actor left Hollywood to join the British forces a little more than a year ago he earned approximately £470 a week, which is good pay even in Hollywood for a 22-year-old performer, Greene arrived >n London on September 7, 1940, and six days later was in the Tank Corps. “For three mouths I lived in barracks with 30 other men, getting up at 6 in the morning, sweeping, scrub; bing and peeling potatoes,” he said- “ Then I went to Sandhurst, as a cadet for fotir months. Now I am a second lieutenant in the Lancers, a mechanized regiment.” When the war is over Greene will return to Hollywood to work off the remaining four and one half years of his contract with Twentieth CenturyFox.

AVARNER BROTHERS have ineluded the V For Victory movement in a new war drama, “All Through the Night.” Four other companies have also put the V into as many different films.
