£50 A WEEK SOUGHT

IN RENT

Use Of College Buildings As Hospital

Dominion Special Service. . AUCKLAND, November 13. A claim for £5O a week rent for the use of the Auckland Teachers’ Training College as an auxiliary hospital was received from the Auckland Education Board at a meeting of the Auckland Hospital Board. The claim was made retrospective to September 2, when the buildings were occupied for hospital purposes. The claim had been referred to the Finance and Purchasing Committee, which recommended that the Education Board be advised “that the board declines to pay the rent requested, and considers that the matter should be decided under the Hospital Accommodation Emergency Regulations, 1940.”

The recommendation was adopted without comment.

While the Training College buildings are being used as an auxiliary hospital, the Training College students are being accommodated at Auckland University College. A University College official said that the college council was receiving no - rent from the Education Board for this accommodation.
