"Candida" Thespians' Next Production
JN choosing Bernard Shaw’s “Candida” for their next major production, the Thespians are making their first venture into Shaw. Judged by the success with which they have handled their productions in ths past, “Candida” should prevent no difficulties to the Thespians though, like all of Shaw’s plays, it calls for skilful acting and direction. No dramatist in modern times has hewn out for himself such a position in the theatre as Bernard Shaw and no dramatist has been so fervently admired and at the same time ardently hated. “Candida,” which belongs to his “Pleasant Plays,” is regarded by many critics as his most brilliant play. “Candida” is being produced by Russell Reid and Myles Wright.
