Sentence Of Three Months’ Jail (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, October 3. Sentence of three months’ imprisonment was imposed, on Rachel Stott, aged 57, married, by Mr. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court on three charges of stealing goods valued at £lB from two city departmental stores. “This woman must have had some market for the dresses, as she could not have worn them,” said Detective-Ser-geant Nalder. “Her husband is ! receiving over £lO a week. In 1923 she got probation on a theft charge and in 1933 was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on seven charges of shoplifting.” After hearing defending counsel on the question of accused’s health, the magistrate said he would halve the sentence he would ..otherwise have passed.
