MOSCOW’S DEFENCE
Four Per Cent. Penetration By Luftwaffe (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, October 1. A Moscow spokesman said that in the course of more than 30 German raids on the Russian capital, only 100 bombers out of 2500 which made the attempts actually penetrated the city’s defences to drop their loads. The Luftwaffe had lost more than 170 planes during their two months’ attempts on the city; 110 of these were destroyed by the Russian night-fighters, 60 by anti-aircraft gunfire, and three by the balloon barrage.
