The monthly meeting of the Wellington branch of the Plunket Society was held on Friday last, the president, Mrs. H. Jowet.t, being in the chair The following committees were elected for the ensuing year:—Executive, Mesdames K. Matthews, H. R. Chalmers H. Vickerman, D. O. Whyte, E. D. Good, G. Cbesterman; Karitane Hospital, Mesdames S. P. MeDonald, E. C. Sare, R. H. Rowland, P. B. Cooke, F. C. Burgess, C. Holden, and Miss M. Firth; Plunket rooms, Mesdames V. J. Innes, B. Brown, J. L. Stout, W. G. Simpson. . The following were appointed as delegatee to the general conference, to be held in Wellington in October; The president and executive committee, and Mesdames R. M. Jack, C. Girdlestone, B. Brown, W. Bullock, J. L. Stout, P. B. Cooke, J. Tythe Brown. Advice was received from Dominion headquarters that her Excellency, Lady Newall, would open the conference at 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15. and that Sir Cyril Newall would unveil the national memorial to the late Sir Truby King on October 16, at 4-30 P ’The vacation dance, held on August 25 was reported to have been very successful in every way, the net profit being £53. Miss J. Samson, charge nurse, reported that 273 visits were paid to the pre-natal clinic during the month. In the post-natal section new baby cases totalled 179. The. nurses paid 1529 visits to homes in city 'and suburbs, and 3126 adults, 2758 babies, and 32-1 older children came to the Plunket rooms in the same areas. In the pre-school section, 317 adults and 324 children visited the rooms. Three classes of Plunket aids had been concluded, and another class would commence on the 18th instant. Many of those taking the course had attended at Karitane Hospital for practical experience. Miss J. Woodhead, matron of the Sir Truby and Lady King Karitane Hospital, reported that 13 mothers and 31 babies had been admitted during the month; 13 mothers and 27 babies were discharged, leaving 5 mothers and 25 babies in hospital at the end of the month.
