R. Hoare Wins Time-Trial
The combined amateur cycling elubs of Wellington on Saturday conducted a time trial of 22 miles on the Island Bay course. Results: R. Hoare, 59.54, 1; V. Westbury, 60.2,2; H. Constable, 60.16 2-5, 3. Result of sealed handicap held in conjunction : R. Huxford (4min.), 58.51, 1; H. Constable (linin.), 59.16 1-5, 2. The winner of the time trial displayed his best form, while Westbury and Constable maintained their consistent improvement, the last-mentioned, still a junior, showing exceptional promise. The winner of the handicap, a firstj’ear junior, is showing the family ability in this branch of sport.
On Saturday next, the second of the series of the Hope Gibbons shield contest will be held on the Kaiwarra course and as only seven seconds separate the Poneke and Port Nicholson teams, much interest will attach to this race.
