Three times within the last fortnight boisterous weather, with heavy rain, has necessitated valving off the water supply from Orotigorongo for tlw; Wellington system. On each occasion the waters of George Creek, recently tapped to meet such emergencies, were turned into the Orongorongo main which flows direct to the Karori reservoir. Speaking of this yesterday the city engineer, Mr. K. E. buke. said that ordinarily the shutting off of the Orongorongo supply for Um period mentioned would result in Hu 1 level of the water nt Karori receding between 3 and -I feet, but. thanks to the faithful George Creek, the fall registered was less than two iuehes.
