Maori Dies In Hospital (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 27. Struck by a motor-car whose driver allegedly failed to stop, a Maori labourer, who was admitted to Auckland Hospital on Saturday, died , this morning. The victim was Andrew Marsh, married, aged 45 years. Mr. Marsh was crossing Hobson Street, near the intersection of Cook Street, when he was knocked down. The police are making inquiries for the ear. COLLISION WITH POLE Two Occupants Of Car Seriously Hurt (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 27. The driver and one passenger were seriously hurt when a sedan motor-car with four occupants collided heavily with a telegraph pole near St Mary’s Cathedral at 3 o’clock this morning. The driver, Desmond Lewis, a seaman, single, aged 25, was extensively cut about the head by glass, and suffered concussion. His condition is serious.

Miss Karin Lansberg, aged 18, Brooklyn Flats, who was sitting in the front seat, received severe head injuries and lacerations, and is in a critical condition.

Because of the damage to the car, the injured people could only be brought out of the wreckage with difficulty. The pole was canted at an angle, and a number of insulators were broken by the impact.

CAR OVERTURNED Woman Severely Injured

When she was turning into her gate about 8.30 p.m. on Saturday, Mrs. P. Ridling, Heretaunga, received severe injuries and shock. She was thrown from her ear which was overturned by a taxi coming up behind her. Mrs. Ridling was taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance and her condition is reported as fair.
