Question Of New Bridge At Melling
The construction of a new bridge over the Hull Kiver til Moiling was discussed til a meeting of the Hutt Kiver Hoard this week. Mr. J. W. Andrews said lie was concerned at the removal of shingle from tlie bed of the river, knowing that when the cut was made all that was now lining taken out would have to be replaced when the river look its new course, lie suggested that lhe Lower Hutt City Council ami Hie board might consider the question at an early dale. If was pointed out that Hie new bridge might need a ramped road from the Western Hutt Hop'd entrance and that till tlie Hallways Department decided ils future policy in regard to tlie railway no finality could be reached. It was decided to ask the department whether a defined policy had been reached. The see rot.-rry, Mr. A. .). Gearing, reported that Hie groynes, piles and rails had been completed al lhe site of lhe recent erosion at Belmont, and I liar the cost was I’9 lit.
