Seven Months Export Killings

The official figures of export killings at the Dominion’s freezing works from October 1, 1940, till May 3, 1941 as issued by the New Zealand Meat Iroducers’ ISotirtL show thut lunib killing’s have reached a total of 9,892,408, or 658,114 carcases above mat of the previous season. Ewe killings now show a decrease of 250,555 carcases compared with the previous season, the current total being 1,382,949. Wethers have declined by 623,805, the killings this season totalling 540,447. Details of lamb and mutton production to May 3, with the corresponding figures for the previous season (to May 4) in parentheses, are as follows, North Island figures being shown firstWether mutton (c/cs.), 469,<01 (1,039.989), 70,686 (124,263) ; etve mutton (c/cs.), 868,790 (1,117.091),. 514,lu9 (516.743); lamb (c/cs.), 0,279,290 (4.941,891), 4.613,115 (4,292,40 a Frozen beef production has reached 441,687 quarters, compared with 32a,lib. Porker killings (145,202 in the North Island, and 4791 in the South), total 149.993, showing an increase of carcases. Baconer killings were as follows:—North Island 286,819 (compared with 285,263); South Island, 9689 (10,631), an increase this season of bi t carcases. Killings of choppers total 10.206. being an increase of 249. Killings of other classes of meat expressed in 601 b. freight carcases were as follows, with the figures for the previous season to approximately the same date, shown in parentheses;—Boneless beet, .352.992 (500.226) ; boneless bobby veal, 56.921 (66,459); sundries, 344,967 (331,776).
