BELFAST FREEZING WORKS

Killing Chain Still Idle

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH. May 16.

For the fourth day the slaughtering chain was idle at the Belfast works of Thomas Borthwick and Sons (A’sia) Ltd. today- No steps were taken after the exploratory talks between the company and union officials on Thursday to negotiate a settlement of the dispute. Both sides appeared to be waiting for a declaration of the attitude of the Minister of Labour, Mr. Webb, and it is clear that unless action is taken by the Minister killing will not be resumed on Monday.
