At today.'s Addington stock market most sections were over-supplied There was a moderate easing in prices tor tat sheep and a sharp one for lat cattle. Store sheep: About 4.u(JO betid vveie forward. Ready sales resulted for best lambs (up to 17/3), for wethers and also for young ewes. Old ewes, however, particularly coarse wools, were down by 2/a head. Best Romney two-tooths maue to 25/9 and sound mouthed to 15/6. Fat sheep t About 5500 head were penned in this section, including numerous southern ewes. Medium-weight prime ewes and wethers and light ewes showed little change in lvalues, but both heavy wethers and heavy ewes were down, the former by up to 2/6 a head.. The market has been easing for some weeks under the pressure of large entries, and today best beef was down to about 34/- to 36/- a 1001 b. for good and from 32/- to 33/6 a 1001 b. for medium. Rough lines were down to 24/- a 1001 b. Very few steers today exceeded xlo, prime lines ranging from £l3 to £l4/10/-. and medium £ll to £l3. An army of cull cows sold at down to £3/10/- a head. Fat pigs: Porkers eased by about 4/a head and baconers were a shade easier. Porkers made £l/14/6 to £2/19/6, an average price a lb. of 6|d. to 71d„ and baconers £2/17/6 to £4/16/6, an average price a lb. of 61d. to 6|d.

An average entry of ox beef came forward at Westfield today and there was a ready demand, a firm sale resulting. For a moderate yarding of cows and heifers the demand was good, values for prime cattle remaining firm. Plain and unfinished sorts were unchanged. Extra choice ox beef made to 38/- a 1001 b., choice and prime 34/- to 37/-, secondary and plain 31/- to 33/-; extra prime young cow and heifer 29/- to 33/-, choice and prime 26/to 28/-; ordinary cow beef 21/to 25/-. Extra heayy_ prime prime steers made £l4 to £l5/5/-, heavy £l3 to £l3/15/-, lighter £l2 to £l2/10/-, light £lO/10/- to £ll/15/-, small and unfinished £5 to £10; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers £9 to £lO/10/-, heavy prime £7/10/- to £B/10/-, lighter £6/5/- to £7/5/; other killable cows £3 15/- to £5/15/-. There was again a _ heavy yarding of sheep, but competition was steady. Values for prime wethers were in some cases easier. Ewes sold' freely at full late rates. Extra heavy prime wethers made 28/- to 29/6, heavy 26/6 to 27/6, medium 25/- to 20/-, light 23/- to 24/6, plain and unfinished 21/- to 22/6; extra heavy prime young and maiden ewes 18/6 to 20/9, heavy prime 16/- to 17/6, lighter 14/- to 15/6, plain and aged 11/to 13/6, others 8/- to 10/-. A full entry of lambs met with good competition and prime quality sorts realized full late rates. Prices for plain and unfinished sorts were slightly lower. Extra heavy prime lines made 27/- to 28/-, heavy 25/- to 26/-, medium 22/6 to 24/-, lighter 20/- to 21/6, light 18/to 19/6, small and plain 12/- to 17/-; culls 4/- to 10/-. An extra large yarding of calves was again offered, and though values were firm at the start of the sale they declined later and rates in general were lower. Runners made £4 to £B/2/-; heavy venders £4 to £5/8/-, medium £3/5/- to £3/15/-, light £2/10/- to £3, small 18/- to £2/5/-; unfinished and bucket-fed 15/- to £l/15/-; bobby and rough 3/- to 11/-. Prime baconers sold readily at further improved rates in an average offering of pigs. Late rates were maintained by porkers, except unfinished classes, which declined. Choppers made £l/5/- to £3 6/-; heavy baconers £3/18/- to £4/13/-, medium £3/8/- to £3/14/-, light £2/18/to £3/5/-; heavy porkers £2/8/- to £2 15/-, medium £2 to £2/6/-, light £l/12/to £l/18/-, small and unfinished il/'D- to £l/10/-; stores 17/- to £l/5/-; slips 8/to 13/-; weaners 4/- to 9/-.

BURNSIDE (By Telegraph—Piy:ss Association.) DUNEDIN, May 7. A yarding of 295 fat cattle was penned at Burnside today. Included in this entry were several penuings of fiedium weight bullocks. Only an odd consignment of extra heavy cattle was forward. Prime quality cattle can be quoted at 10/- to 15/- a head better than last week’s rates, with light bullocks and cows selling on a par with late rates as the sale progressed. Over the concluding race there was an easing tendency, and prices can be quoted on a par with last week. Prime heavy ox made to £l7/7/6, prime £l3/2/6 to £l5 2/6, medium £lO/17/6 to £l2/2/6, light from £B/17/6; extra prime cows and heifers to £l2/17/6, prime £B/7/6 to £9 2/6, medium £6/7/6 to £7/17/6, light from £4/12/6 to £5/12/6. There was a small yarding of store cattle, and prices showed no improvement on last week’s rates.

A yarding of 2470 fat sheep was penned. The entry consisted principally of ewes with only an odd consignment of prime butchers’ wethers on offer, and several petinings of extra choice young ewes. The market for prime 'heavy wethers, which were in short supply, was fully firm on late rates, while prime heavy ones were selling on par to 1/- a head better. Outside competition for light ewes helped the market to the extent of 1/- to 1/0 a head above last sale. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 31/3; prime heavy, 24/- to 28/0; prime, 22/9 to 24/-; medium, 17/- to 19/6; light, from 15/-; extra prime heavy young ewes, to 18/3: prime, 13/9 to 15/0; medium, 10/3 to 11/9; light, from 8/3. Nearly 1270 fat. lambs were penned. The quality generally was on a par with that of last week, and there were only a few consignments of extra choice quality. The balance showed signs of the bad weather. The sale throughout for good quality lambs was a good one with prices fully up to last sale. Extra prime lambs made 30/- to 33/6; prime, 25/- to 28/6; medium, 22/- to 24/-; light, to £l. There was a small entry of fat pigs, and these met with keen competition, prices all round showing a slight advance. Store pigs had a fair entry and these showed no improvement. WANGANUI Dominion Special Service. WANGANUI, May 7. Except for store cattle, of which there was a good yarding, all sections of stock forward at the sale conducted' in Wanganui today were small. Fat sheep prices generally were on a par with those of last. week. Good-qual-ity lightweights advanced slightly. The store sheep market wits firm. Only fair sales resulted in the cattle sections. Outside of a few good runners, the quality of the vealers offered was poor and prices were relative. With the quality and finish not as good as at recent sales, porker values were a little easier. There was a steady demand for forward lambs, but lines in medium and light condition were cheaper. Values for good ewe lambs were unchanged. Most of the yarding of 5000 store sheep were lambs. Forward two-tooths made 20/-. Mixed in size two-tooths in store order made 17/- to 17/10. Extra forward woolly lambs brought 19/10 to 21/3. medium grown and in good order 16/6 to 17/6, and lighter 14/- Io 15/-. Shorn owe lambs brought 21/-, back’ country woolly 20/-, very forward Soulbdowjicross 21/1, and medium grown and forward 17/6. There was little activity in the market for store cattle.
