"In ordinary circumstances, this would be an occasion, for loud trumpetings and celebrations, but today we are engaged in a struggle requiring all our energies and football, must take a back seat,” said Mr. J. Meltzer, chairman of the outgoing management committee, speaking at the 50th annual meeting of the Wellington Football Association. Mr. Meltzer referred to the wonderful work put into the game by such pioneers as Messrs. J. J. Roberts. W. Duncan and W. B. Hicks.
