Y.W.C.A. CLASSES
Last week marked the opening of the Y.W.C.A. educational classes for the season, and those who wish to take advantage of the opportunities offered may make early application for enrolment. The usual classes for French and German are being field; instruction in arts and crafts and bridge is also offered. There is a class in musical appreciation under Miss I. Hirst, also one in dramatic art and versespeaking, conducted by Madame Dronke. An unusual class is one for group instruction In piinwforte playing, with Mrs. Kurtzweil as teacher. First aid and home nursing classes are also being held.
There being very few formal functions during war time, specially for older women, dinner dress is definitely more popular. A sapphire cloqne with a long skirt, short sleeves and V neck is verv smart. The skirt is clinging and cut high at the waist line in front, with the bodice softly gathered and finished witli a sapphire and brilliant clip. Another charming dinner gown is black with a long skirt of satinbacked crepe and a baby bodice, with elbow sleeves, of black marquisette mounted over white net. Deep culls and a wide shaped belt effect are closely beaded with Jet bugle beads. The neck is high with a soft finish of tlie black marquisette. Agues Samson. Dambtou Quay.—Ailvt.
