JAIL FOR THEFT
Charles Patrick McCarthy, labourer, aged 46, was yesterday sentenced to one month's imprisonment on two charges of stealing sash weights, the property of the T. Norman Demolition Co., by Mr. Luxford, S.M., in the Magistrates' Court, Wellington. On a third charge of theft McCarthy was convicted and discharged. McCarthy lived alongside a building which was being demolished by the company. and had stolen the weights. Later he sold them in Wellingion for £l, which he admitted spending in liquor.
