BOWLS TOURNAMENT

Tucker And Lawrie Win Final GAME OF UPS AND DOWNS The Victoria club pair, Tucker and Lawrie, won the Wellington Bowling Centre’s pairs tournament, post-section play of which was held yesterday. The runnersup were Littlejohn and Hadwin, Hutt, who were defeated in a final of varying fortunes. The games were played in calm sunny weather on the Wellington green. The final was notable for a remarkable recovery by the Hutt pair after being down, 14-1, on the tenth end. The one had been scored by Hutton the first end. Then Hadwin commenced scoring, and, with the help of two 4’s, was only four down when three ends remained to be played. Lawrie got two from the nineteenth. The twentieth was killed twice by Hadwin, who was driving very accurately. The second time it was being replayed Had win’s lead was the one who had a run at the jack. The jack went into the ditch just outside the rink and the bowl was in the ditch also. Hadwin drew another counter, but two other bowls of his which would have been in the count otherwise came to rest outside the rink. Hadwin had to get four from the last and to draw. All he could get was two and the game went to Lawrie. Results in detail are as follows:— First Round.—A. A. Wilson and C. O. Josephson (Hataitai) 14, J. B. Cooke and H. Overend (Lyall Bay) 12; E.
