INQUIRY INTO SUPPLY OF
.22 AMMUNITION

Inquiries have been instituted by the Minister of Agriculture Mr. Barclay, into the supply of .22 ammunition in response to representations made, recently by the Waitotara County Council and the Patea-Waitotara Rabbit Board that small-calibre ammunition should be made available. The council held that sportsmen to keep down rabbits and wild pigs, which .had -lately been greatly on the increase. A copy of a letter from lhe Minister was before today’s meeting of the council. Another letter from the Department of Agriculture to the Wanganui,County Council stated that arrangements had been made with the Army Department for the release of 20,000 rounds of -.303 ammunition to approved' persons for the destruction of wild pigs.
