MEMBERS' LUNCHEON
There.was an excellent attendance at the first luncheon for the year, held in Wellington yesterday, for members of the Victoria League. More than 70 guests wore welcomed by the president. Mrs. J. A. Doctor, and enjoyed a cool buffet meal, attractively served in the league’s rooms. Lovely arrangements of golden cactus dahlias were used in decoration. .Judging by the success of this initial gathering, league funds should be considerably augmented by the end of the year, ns proceeds are set aside for league activities. Mrs. Doctor read interesting extracts from letters written by Miss Gertrude Drayton, London secretary of the Victoria League, in which reference was made to (he visits of New Zealand men serving overseas. During luncheon many of the members also read extracts from letters received in recent mails from relatives and friends serving with the forces abroad.
