600,000 To 800,000 To Work On Farms LONDON, March 5. The Board of Education has agreed to a plan under which Britain’s schools will provide a children’s land army, totalling between 600,000 and 800,000 to help farmers gather crops. • Children aged 12 to 18 will be paid for work, schools granting holidays whenever farmers need labour. This will necessitate waiving the ban on children aged 12 to 14 working during the school term.
Boys and girls under 16 will receive the Agricultural Board’s wage of sd. an hour. Those over 16 will receive 6d. an hour.
