I am going to tell you about my holiday. On Wednesday we went out fishing. We saw an eel under a stone and it was a big one, too. We chased it away, down the river. Then we sow some very pretty cockabullies come out from under a stone. We went through the bush and we saw a goldfinch, a thrush and a few blackbirds. IVe went on and came to a lovely stream with a lot of ducks floating on it. It looked so pretty that we wished we had taken the camera. Then we came home.— Lady Moon (10), Reikorangi. Too Tired. IVe have a guinea pig for a pet and I am trying to teach him to beg, but he will only stretch his neck as far as he can. Then he gives up. He is white, with black and brown blotches. — Flotsam (15), Paliiatua. News Flash. I have a little brother. He is 13 months old and we have called him Warren. He is a little dear. I have been sunburnt this year already. IVe were camping for a few days at the beach, when I got sunburnt. — Happy Maid (10), Marton. Surprise Visit. Recently some sailors and airmen honoured famous little Otaki with their presence. Unluckily their coming was unannounced, and therefore, the notabilities of the town were nor there to welcome them. I did not know a word about it till I saw three large sight-seeing buses outside Raukawa, and some sailors parading. I made one dash for home, got my autographbook and ran for my life to the nearest sailor and secured his autograph. Altogether I got 17. The sailors only stayed a little while and spent the time in conversation with the townsfolk, and inspecting the various shops. They visited Raukawa and the Maori church. Ramillies (16), Otaki.
