rpHEY do great things with a makeup kit out in Hollywood. Best make-up story from lllmdom in a long time is the following about Ginger Rogers, who is playing the title role in RKO Radio’s version of “Kitty Foyle,” the best-selling novel by Christopher Morley. / During the film, glamorous Ginger is called upon to enact a 16-y ear-old schoolgirl. With her was RKO Radio's head make-up man, Mel Berns. Just as they reached the stage door, a six-year-old juvenile playing in another picture accosted Berns with that “I-want-to-see-you-alone” air. So Berns excused himself and walked off to a side with the youngster. “Mr. Berns,” said the tot, looking warily about. “Is that Ginger Rogers?” “Why, no,” said Berns, who thought he'd have some fun. “It’s her sister.” The youth waxed even more confidential. “If I was you Mr. Berns,” he confided, “I’d hire Ginger back again. She’s got a lot more oomph 1”
