PLAZA THEATRE

A self-contained sequel to that exciting film about the James brothers, “The Return of Frank James,” in the second week of a season at the Plaza Theatre, opens on the dtath of Jesse James at the hands of the Ford brothers, traitors. The scene then changes to where Frank James, on a waybaek Ozark farm, is happily tilling the soil with the help of Clem, a youngster he has befriended, and Pinkie, his faithful “darky” servant. When it is learnt that the Ford brothers, though found guilty of the murder, have been immediately released and given the reward money offered for Jesse, Frank's determination to avoid future lawlessness and disorder fades before a desire to revenge his brother. He once more buckles on his six-shooter and, followed at a discreet distance by Clem, prepares to hunt down the murdqrers. Following the trail “out West” the couple arrive at Denver, where they meet a charming young woman, daughter of the proprietor of the Denver “Star,” who desires to be a reporter. Though he is attracted, Frank goes on with his quest and catches up with the Fords. After a spectacular chase one of them is accounted for, but Bob, the arch villain, is still at large when Frank learns that Pinkie has been tried and condemned for a robbery actually committed by himself and Clem. They go back, after a struggle with Frank’s conscience, and Frank gives himself up, admitting the robbery but denying the accompanying charge of murder. A court scene—a gem of its kind and one of the highlights of the show—-ensues, and Frank is pronounced not guilty by a sympathetic jury. He is free, but his freedom is marred by the presence of Bob Ford, who has come to gloat at Frank's downfall. Clem tries to stop Bob and finally meets his end.
