Professional Men Fair Game

Sir,—The professional man appears to be considered fair game by the Labour movement, and it would appear to be high time that they got together and did something about it. What is urgently needed is a federation of professional men, doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, engineers, etc., who would form an organization similar to the Federation of Labour. It could bind them together in defence of their interests, and if things got Joo hot it could even take the offensive. It could, at any rate, take some steps to deal with “the incrustations over sores” in their midst who are prepared to sell out or be more loyal to the Labour movement than to their own colleagues. The term used above to describe traitors has been employed in preference to that most commonly used by trade unionists. These excrescences could at least be sent to Coventry by the rest of the professional men of this Dominion.

I put forward this suggestion for the consideration of all professional men. If we can get a few supporters then a meeting could be called to further the project, starting by giving support to the doctors. —I am, etc., NOT LYING DOWN TO IT. Wellington, March 5, 1941.
