Seriousness Of Shortage

The seriousness of the shortage of wrapping paper was stressed by the president of the Masterton branch of the Manawatu-Wairarapa Master Grocers’ Association, Mr. R. S. Graham. He asked for more effective co-operation by the public in saving paper, and said if the public realized the seriousness of the position they would readily assist in meeting the emergency. "So far, the results have been disappointing,” . said Mr. Graham. "About a week ago a start was made witli the distribution among customers of a leaflet asking them to bring their own baskets or wrapping paper, and bags to the counter, when buying groceries. So far the results have been negligible, and paper stocks, already difficult to replace, are fast dwindling.”
