Free Kindergarten worn In Wellington The Wellington Free Kindergarten Council met on Monday, Mrs. J. A. Doctor , presiding. Mrs. Parata-Olsen was welcomed as the new delegate from Petone, and Mrs. J. D. McGowan was elected a member of the council. Local committees have been busy throughout the month with their annual meetings, and with planning their activities for the. coming year. More members are needed for local. committee activities, and the association will be most grateful if anyone willing to help in this work would communicate with Mrs. Dowsett, telephone 50-275. At no time has kindergarten work been more necessary than at the present, and at no time has the child been of greater value to. the nation. Kindergarten is one of the essential services’that has to be maintained at all costs and any co-operation that can be given in these difficult days will be greatly appreciated by- the council. It has been decided to hold the. annual jumble sale on the last I'riday in March. Any goods for this effort can be left at 196 Taranaki Street, or arrangements can be made for their collection by telephoning the office. Plans for the white elephant auction are well in hand, and will be fully advertised within the next few weeks. A donation from the students of Queen Margaret College was greatly appreciated. During March the annual meetings of the mothers’ clubs will be held. All clubs have completed a most successful year, and their loyal support and cooperation has been greatly valued by the council.
