BORDER DISPUTE
Vichy’s Reply To Tokio TERMS NOT DISCLOSED
LONDON, March 2.
No exact indication of the terms of rhe French reply to Japan’s proposals for the settlement of the dispute between Indo-China and Thailand has yet been given either in Vichy or Tokio, but the official German news agency, quoting what it calls wellinformed circles in Vichy, states that the reply is favourable. The German agency says that it is framed in such a way that negotiations will be able to continue with the prospect of a peaceful settlement. The agency adds, however, that there are still several points on which the French Government requires an explanation. The absence of any official announce, ment is taken to indicate that France has asked for some minor adjustments, The semi-official news agency in Saigon said today that Indo-China was not autonomous, and therefore was not responsible for any of the Vichy Government’s decisions.
