Lower Interest Rates

The Christchurch City Council has accepted proposals for converting £600,000 of the city’s present conversion loan of £688,595 to a lower rate of interest. The rate on the existing loan is 4J per cent. It has been announced that the Bank of New Zealand has offered £200,000 at £3/12/6 per cent., and the A.M.P. Society £-100.000 at £3/14/- per eent These offers have been confirmed and will mean a saving in interest to the city of £28.000 over the period of 14 year.s the loan has to run The proposals are subject to the approval of the Local Government 'Loans Board.
